His wit and insight are legendary. The first volume of autobiography, over pages, was published by the University of California in November , years after his death as Twain wished. It soon became an unexpected best seller, making Twain one of very few authors publishing new best-selling volumes in all three of the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries. None but the dead are permitted to tell the truth. I would like to share this with you now, along with some insight into prayer as laid out in the Teachings of the Temple.

An aged stranger entered and moved with slow and noiseless step up the main aisle, his eyes fixed upon the minister, his long body clothed in a robe that reached to his feet, his head bare, his white hair descending in a frothy cataract to his shoulders, his seamy face unnaturally pale, pale even to ghastliness.
